1. Identity Website/Portfolio design:
I purchased a domain name and web hosting and need to design a look/feel and display for it. This will be ongoing all term and will be finished before our show date. My business name is Girl With A Curl Design. My url is: girlwithacurldesign.com

I have a logo almost finished.

I was on schedule with this project. I selected one of the sliders that we had previously worked with, but was then introduced to the “Anything Slider” which worked out really well, and allowed me to have nice sized images and text for viewing.

I also discovered Weebly, and, just for a lark, created a site there as well. It is a super easy drag and drop website creator, and the only ad it requires is a very small one at the bottom of your page.

2. A series of blank note cards of my own designs. It will be a package of 24 cards; 4 of each colorset, each colorset having slight differences in design, but all coordinating together.

I actually created a set of 12, and used some butterfly images that I had previously created in different colors and patterns.

I stayed right on schedule with this project.

Project 3: Write and Illustrate a traditional Fairy Tale

This project proved very difficult for me to illustrate. I had no problem writing it, and “seeing” the illustrations in my minds eye, but when it came down to creating what I was envisioning, it was really difficult.

I began to have real issues with this around this week. I kept working and working with different dresses and animal shapes filled with nice textures, but was still having issues.

At about this point I decided I couldn’t pussyfoot around any longer (the technical term) and needed to choose another project. I didn’t have any product design in my project list, so I created a new design for some Organic Goat’s Milk Soap.

I took pictures of some styrofoam blocks I cut and painted to resemble hand made soap.

I created a “Nanny Jo” goat character to be the face of the company, and then created labels to go around the soaps.

I placed the logo and some corresponding designs on the box in PhotoShop, and I really liked the results:

I did not end up with the finished children’s book but I do have a good start to that project and will finish it now that I can give it the time needed. I do like the way the cards, websites and packaging turned out, so I am pleased overall with the term and my projects. I am particularly proud of the fact that I did some of the webwork myself–quite an accomplishment for me! LOL!!!!

I would give my website(s) a B–not because I did them completely by myself (except for the Weebly one) but because I did do more than I thought I’d be able to, and I now have two respectable portfolio sites.

I would give my cards an A; I love the images and think they turned out really nicely, including the envelope with logo on the flap.

I would give my Nanny Jo’s Organic Goat’s Milk Soap product design a B. The box design could use a little work, but overall, the logo and labels turned out great!
